Thoughts on sconsciousness 10/27/2009
There is no eye equal to wisdom... No darkness equal to ignorance... No power equal to the power of spirit, and no terror equal to the poverty of consciousness. There is no higher happiness than wisdom... No better friend than knowledge, and no other savior than the power of spirit. -- From my friend Cosmic Rose, http://www.cosmicrose.com
Fall has come to the Methow Valley and I wish I had the photos to do it justice. This morning it is 30 degrees, but sunny and gloriously clear. The bunchgrasses and aspen leaves are turning yellow, and cold-flushed apples draw bears to the trees. The pre-sunset “golden hour” lasts all day.
My friend Dr. Jennifer Freed is the host of a radio program called FREED UP! on VoiceAmerica.com.Today she interviewed Mama Gena, founder of Mama Gena’s School of Womanly Arts (http://www.mamagenas.com/), which “trains women of all ages to use the power of pleasure to have their way with the world.”Mama Gena’s premise seems to be that women’s sexual pleasure is the potential driver of creative change in the world. From the photos of ecstatic, empowered, fun-experiencing women on her website, it appears that Mama Gena is on to something. Something I don’t get.
On Tuesday a tsunami hit the Samoan Islands. Today a guest columnist for the NY Times, Fia Sigiel, wrote the following account of her uncle Opi's attempt to warn four elderly women of impending danger. His warning fell on deaf ears. The women laughed and waved, "Have faith, Opi! God is good!"
